Challenges and Opportunities in AI-Enabled Curriculum Renewal

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) offers opportunities to support curriculum analysis, strengthen alignment, and prepare graduates for changing professional practice. Its educational value depends on reliable evidence, faculty judgment, and accountable implementation. This work examines the opportunities and challenges of AI-enabled curriculum renewal, distinguishing AI-assisted curriculum design, the development of AI competencies, and AI use in teaching and learning. It considers data quality, assessment validity, equitable access, institutional governance, and faculty capacity. A staged approach is proposed that connects identified educational needs with piloting, evaluation, and continuous review. The central argument is that AI adoption should be assessed through credible evidence of learning and operational feasibility while preserving disciplinary depth and academic responsibility.
